Finally got the European Sane Man DVD. It actually features some
subtitles (no English ones, so unhelpful for the hard of hearing);
amongst them German. I gave them a spin (to see whether I could
get some fellow countrymen into Bill Hicks) and was rather
disappointed. I don't mind them failing on word plays (the door
is ajar - of course they can't translate that well), but there
were lots of things the translator seemed to have simply misheard
or translated poorly.
I realise the chances of anyone here getting the DVD just for
the (German) subtitles is rather slim, but if you WERE considering
it, don't bother, much is lost, even though some things are done
right. Oh, also only the extended version is subtitled, no extras
or the standard version. To see how subtitles for something live
should be done, see "Weird Al Yankovic Live".
