A review of a multipart BBC TV do***entary, _Filth: The Mary Whitehouse
Story_, at http://www.tvscoop.tv/2008/05/tv_review_filth.html
,
contains the following.
Suddenly the smiling Mary Whitehouse had turned into a stone-faced
woman on a mission. Her and her friends in the village needed a name
for their new group, and they settled on Clean Up National TV. Which
sounded fine until Earnest, during one of the group's tea and cake
meetings, pointed out what word could be made if you took each first
letter of the title.
I would be exceedingly gratified if one or more of our UK correspondants
would undertake the onerous task of watching _Filth_ to see whether, if
at all, this variation on a familiar theme is do***ented during the,
errh, do***entary; or whether, as often (if not invariably) is the
case when similar stories (of organizations that either do or don't
avert the disaster of their initials spelling out a taboo word or
phrase) come up, it's just another FOAFtale.
