I is an educated New Yawker!ehe Since I am the NY Yid of Tid, it would
not be feasible to use paragraphs for the reams of Jewish NY-related
taglines. eh It's a combination of laziness, non-word wrap, tagline
shtick, and just not giving a crap! eh As you will see from my first
tagline, I seem to do A-OK!heehe -D, NYC "What a fabulous, fun, smart
post! I haven't been reading these ngs for very long but sometimes I
come across the comments and writings of people who have these
wonderfully quick and lively minds, full of fun and that ability to
see sideways and around things and sometimes, just old-fa****oned
brilliant. It's so great to read and laugh and enjoy that spark!!" -
CORDELIA LEAR (online user describing yours truly!ehe).."The
intellectual life is why I'm a New Yorker. It's why I stay here. I
spend my summers in Europe, and if they ask me if I'm an American, I
say, "No, I'm a New Yorker." I don't know about everyone else, but for
me that's a positive statement." - ALEXANDER ALLAND JR.."It wasn't
until I got to New York that I became a Kansan. Everyone there kept
reminding me that they were Jewish or Irish, or whatever, so I kept
telling them that I was midwestern. Before I knew it, I actually began
to brag about being from Kansas! I discovered that I had something a
bit unique, but it was the nature of New York that forced me to claim
my past" - WILLIAM INGE.."That's the thing in New York City: You're
protected by numbers in a way, particularly [in] Brooklyn, [because]
people are just trying to get from A to B" - HEATH LEDGER (as told to
Go Brooklyn newspaper, excerpted from NY POST: "One-time idyllic dad
in upscale Brooklyn").."New York is the only city in the world where
you can get deliberately run down on the sidewalk by a pedestrian" eh
- RUSSELL BAKER.."New York Jewry has fulfilled completely the mandate
the Dutch West Indies Company set out for Jews here 350 years ago:
"not to become a burden...but be sup****ted by their own nation." New
York now is a leading voice of the Jewish international community" -
LEADER OF WORLD JEWRY, excerpt from JEWISH NY: NOTABLE NEIGHBORHOODS &
MEMORABLE MOMENTS BY IRA WOLFMAN.."In New York City, Jews took jobs
that had never before been associated with Jewry. Police Commissioner
Theodore Roosevelt encouraged "fighting Jews" in the 1890s to join his
department - and, eventually, the city had hundreds of Jewish police
officers. To this day, Jewish cops have their own fraternal
organization, the Shomrim Society, and New York's firefighters the Ner
Tamid, the Brotherhood of Jewish Firefighters" - GOTTA EARN A DOLLAR:
HOW THEY MADE A LIVING, IBID.."Imagine, then, that until 1825, the
only synagogue in all of New York City was Shearith Israel, the
"Spanish and ****tuguese congregation" that began in 1654 with those
twenty-three refugees from South America. Though Director-General
Stuyvesant begrudgingly allowed them to stay, he forbade the Jews to
pray in public, insisting that they congregate in private home for
religious wor****p and ceremonies. However, the English conquered New
Amsterdam (aka NY) soon afterwards, and New York map of 1695, already
included a notation for a "Jews Synagogue" - SYNAGOGUES &
CELEBRATIONS: The Place Of Prayer in New York, IBID.."All I know is I
am the Goddamn Mayor of The Goddamn City of New York. The second most
im****tant elective office in the entire country" - AL THE MAYOR,

everything that interests me..You can have 600 jokes in your film and
if two gags are Jewish, the picture will be perceived as Jewish
comedy. This is a false perception, I think" - WOODY ALLEN (b.
Konigsberg, umpteenth sweet, Jewish NYer).."The Brooklyn Bridge was
the first bridge to be lit using electricity" - LITTLE BIG BOOK OF
NY.."P.T. Barnum demonstrated the safety of the bridge in 1884 by
parading across it with a herd of twenty-one elephants" - IBID.."On
the Brooklyn Bridge, an airplane can fly over a pedestrian who's
walking over a car that's driving over a boat that's sailing over a
train. (The subway runs under the East River) - IBID.."It (Brooklyn
Bridge) took 13 years to build, beginning in 1870. It opened on May
