My ultimate "you know you're old when...": video tape, a technology
that was still new and experimental when I was a child, is now pretty
much obsolete-- not to mention that TVs still used vacuum tubes, 78 RPM
records were still being made for children, a computer system filled a
room, a disk drive was about the size and shape of a top-loading
wa****ng machine, and the operator physically "mounted" a file system by
locking a disk pack to the top of the drive spindle.
