Some time ago, I wrote a short story titled "Veronica Gets a Chanukah
Harmonica." Nobody would buy it so I filed it in my archives.
Summary:
Veronica Springer was a talented singer and lived in a town without Jews.
Her uncle Moshe was not happy that Veronica lived Jewlessly and bought her
a
Chanukah song book and a harmonica. She learned the songs and took the
book
to school with the harmonica and told the class these were the songs Jesus
sang when he was a boy. This little maidel also brought a dreidel, and
some
busybodies in town accused her of gambling.
Don't ask! You shouldn't know from the controversy that embroiled little
Veronica, her Chanukah harmonica, her parents and a local minister who
learned the songs and, at the organ, accompanied Veronica and her
harmonica
at a church concert.
I contacted several Jewish publishers but ........Oh, well. You can't win
'em all.
